Recall of Some Packaged Breads in the US
Some packaged breads sold in stores in the US have been recalled due to undisclosed ingredients on the labels. Bakery Group announced that 629 cases of Dense Brioche Pullman loaf and 104 cases of 4.5-inch Brioche Hamburger Buns are affected by this recall.
Undisclosed Ingredients
The reason for the recall of packaged bread is the presence of milk and Yellow 5, substances not listed on the labels, which are associated with a risk of cancer in animal studies. These substances are among the banned substances in Europe but are still used in some cosmetic products in the US. The FDA classified the products as Class 2, stating that their use could lead to temporary and reversible health issues.
Harmful Effects of Yellow 5 Dye
The Yellow 5 dye, derived from petrol, has been linked to hyperactivity in children with ADHD in some studies. Additionally, it has shown carcinogenic potential in some animal experiments.
Apology from the Company
Bakery Group reported that the products in question were sold at Rodeo Goat Casa Linda stores in Fort Worth and Dallas between December 24, 2024, and March 12, 2025. The product codes are 654293 for Dense Brioche Pullman and 54500 for Brioche Hamburger Buns.
The company apologized for the situation.
